Did you know?

  • Most buses run on diesel which is known to be asthma and cancer causing
  • Children's airways are not as developed and they are more susceptible to respiratory effects

Schools love Biodiesel...

We have our work cut out for us as there are many fleets around the US using Biodiesel and we want to be sure you hear from all of them.

How can Biodiesel reduce Global Warming?
Global warming is the increase in the average temperature of the Earth's near-surface air and oceans in recent decades and its projected continuation. Green House Gases are good for this planet and are what has allowed the temperature to remain in a safe balance for planetary life to take place. If these gases weren't there we would be like other planets, Mars too hot or Pluto too cold. However the term Global Warming refers to the role that humans have had on the increase in earth temperatures due to the excessive burning of fossil fuels. Fossil fuels come in either liquid or solid from such as petroleum, natural gas, or coal. These fossil fuels took millions of years to develop in the earth's crust and are the result of decomposed animals and plants back around the dinosaur era. The discovery of these fossils along with the power they hold has provided us with the opportunity to drive cars, have our houses heated or cooled, heat our food and light our way through the night.

However, with 6 billion people living on planet earth, developing their countries to live like the US, we simply don't have enough resources to continue the way we are living. Additionally, we are seeing fierce storms, flooding, drought, weird weather patterns, etc. as the beginning signs that our earth is out of balance.

While Biodiesel will not solve all this imbalance it can take part in the solution. Currently diesel is known to produce 20 lbs of Hydrocarbons (aka Green House Gases) per gallon. When using B20 in a school bus the green house gases are reduced by 20%.

For example, West County Transportation Agency uses 80,000 gallons of Diesel a year, which produces 1.6 million lbs of Green House Gases.

By using B20 and begin reducing their Green House Gas emissions, they will blend 16,000 gallons of biodiesel with 64,000 gallons of diesel and reduce their GHG's by 20% or 320,000 lbs.

Michael's Transportation uses 300,000 gallons of diesel per year, which produces 6 million lbs of GHG's.

By using B20 they will blend 60,000 gallons of Biodiesel with 240,000 gallons of diesel and reduce their GHG's by 20% or 1.2 m lbs.
